Save the dates: Photon and Neutron EOSC Symposium & the PaNOSC & ExPaNDS Annual meeting

November has a lot in store for you! Next to the EGI annual conference from 2-4 November, the Photon and Neutron parties are organising interesting events too!

So what dates should be saved?

9 November: Photon and Neutro EOSC Symposium. This first joint symposium of the two projects is a great opportunity to get acquainted with a broad range of topics related to FAIR open data and open science at PaN sources, and to actively contribute to the construction of the EOSC. The symposium will start at 13:00 CET and will run until 17:15 CET.

Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th November will be dedicated to the internal all-hands meetings, where the PaNOSC and ExPaNDS WPs will present their achievements and roadmaps. These two days will be morning sessions only, from 9:00 to 12:00 CET.

For more information, timetables and registration please visit the PaNOSC website.

Registration for #EGI2020 is now open!

It’s happening, the moment we’ve all been waiting for, our virtual conference is now opening registrations! We cannot wait to meet and exchange ideas with you over the course of three days, vote on favorite demonstrations, and even have a virtual drink with you.

Curious to learn more about the sessions? Please consult the timetable on the event’s Indico page. As submitted abstracts are still being reviewed, please allow some time for us to update the high-level programme with all the complete information on speakers and topics. Important to know, is that we would like to ask you to register for the conference, and consult the timetable to find the assigned Zoom rooms. This will make it easy for you to attend any session you feel like, we hope! (We’re all figuring out virtual events, right?)

EGI 101

With the conference being a virtual one, one perk we’ve indicated is that it allows anyone with an internet connection to join us! Therefore, we’ve decided to add an introduction to the EGI Federation, our rich community, services and all other important elements during an introduction session just before kicking off the conference. So, have you always been curious? Or are you just hearing about EGI and looking for more insights? Then the EGI 101 session is a must-attend.

Europe.. and beyond!

While many activities take place in Europe, and while we’re very much involved in the European Open Science Cloud, we must let you know that we aim to collaborate with science world wide. You’ll hear more about it during certain keynotes, or during the 4 Global Open Science Cloud workshop on the second and third day of the conference. Note, these sessions are a bit longer: 90 mins instead of 75. What can we say, there is just so much to present and discuss!

The Netherlands

We were looking forward to welcoming you in Amsterdam, and had hoped to meet at the Royal Tropical Institute but there is not much we can do. Or is there? Come and join us for a drink and some Amsterdam during the network cocktail on Monday evening! More Netherlands? Register for the co-located workshop of the EOSC Synergy project on the 5th of November to learn more about the Dutch data landscape.

We can write pages about the upcoming conference, but we won’t. Keep an eye on our website, the dedicated Indico event page, your mailbox and our social channels to learn more about keynote speakers, more about programme elements, social sessions and any other thing we can’t wait to tell you about!

EGI Webinar Programme returns!

After more than 10 webinars pre-summer, we’re back with at least 5 for you this autumn! Unfortunately, it seems that we’re still prohibited from meeting face-to-face, so why not make use of the tools we have. Nothing will stop us from sharing knowledge, right?

So what do we have in store? Mark your calendars, you don’t want to miss this! Keep an eye on our webinar page to stay up-to-date.

  • 15 October: CernVM-FS for Containers
  • 23 October: DIRAC services for EGI users
  • 11 November: Providing bioinformatics services with Chipster platform
  • 20 November: Chipster – a user-friendly bioinformatics software for analyzing high-throughput data
  • 27 November: How to use Accelerated Computing in EGI Federated Cloud

Special requests or input/feedback for our webinar programme? Or would you like to host a webinar on a topic you feel is interesting for the EGI community? Please don’t hesitate to reach out! Send us a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Contact:
